About Anne

My goal as a coach is to help you live as a happier human being. You can’t change what is happening in the external world, but you can choose how it impacts you. I will support you moving towards this goal when every cell in your body is screaming “I can’t.” Together on this journey, we will articulate what happiness is for you, learn skills, create plans, start loving your failures, and SUCCEED. I will be your accountability partner, cheerleader, and strategist. I may use gentle humor to diffuse your grumbles, give a gentle push when stone walling, or deliver a swift kick in the a** when needed. I will fight as hard for your desired outcomes as you do as I KNOW the difference having a committed coach can make.

I learned the true value of coaching while training for my first Century (100 mile) Bike Ride. At signup, I wondered if I was absolutely crazy - I had never biked more than 10 miles in a single day before and that was years prior! Now I was committed to completing 100 miles in 15 weeks hence!

The training program heavily emphasized the expected physical components: overall conditioning, carefully calibrated exercises to increase strength and endurance; talks on bike safety and riding in groups; discussions around food and hydration. While nice to have all of this well packaged, the info could easily be found on the Internet.

The Secret Sauce which enabled me to reach my (almost) impossible goal was the mental coaching. Sometimes (ok, frequently) my body would start screaming that it couldn’t go any further. My mind would decide I was done. Miraculously, my coach would appear beside me, place his hand on the back of my seat, and push me forward. Being way too embarrassed to wobble to a stop in front of him, I would force myself to make one pedal stroke at a time. While pedaling himself and simultaneously pushing me uphill, he would calmly share tips on accountability, attitude, commitment to daily practice, teamwork, and (him) holding the space for someone else (me) to attain their dream.

Once I reached the pinnacle, I was invigorated and experienced firsthand my “can do mind” overcoming my “can’t do body.” As soon as my attitude changed to Success, my body was Ready to Go!

Upon reflection, I realized that my coach had made it difficult to quit. His mind management coaching totally changed my perspective and capacity to continue which then influenced my actions and hence my results. Additionally, I developed a resiliency and mental toughness which allow me to successfully deal with the vagaries of life.

Happiness depends upon ourselves.
